Term 3 – 2016

This article provides an overview of the alumni teachers and learners for the third term in the Tsantsabane Teacher Training and Development Project.

Teacher: Ms B. Lekwene

Learners: Solomon Khumalo and Leona April

The Grade 7 learners from HTT Bidi performed badly during the June examinations, with a class average of 24,3%. Ms Lekwene approached the Maths Centre to assist with intervention. There was decided on a plan of action during the third term. The trainer will assist with Classroom Visits (CSV’s) and one on one teacher workshops every Thursday. Every fortnight the learners will write a test, set by the Maths Centre.

For the first assessment piece the learners marks improved to an average of 48,9%. Solomon Khumalo improved his marks with 21% from 55% to 76%, and Leona April improved from 22,4% to 48%.

Teacher: Mr A. Dyonase

Learners: Goodwill Mokanyane and Thato Marumo

Eleven learners in grade 11 obtained marks on level 1 and 2 in the June Examination. An intervention programme was implemented, where the learners must attend Saturday classes presented by Maths Centre. Both Thato and Goodwill increased their marks from between 18% – 24% to between 40% – 60% roughly. To quote Mr Dyonase: “The different teaching techniques used by the Maths Centre Trainer does help the learners to realize their potential.”
