My name is Philasande Hope Valentine Khoza from Mahhushe Agricultural School. I truly believe that Matric is an academic level where one has perform extremely well in order to succeed (secure a bursary and get university admission) How you perform in your final exams basically determines where one is going to end up in life. The road to success is hard, one needs a strong backbone and an amazing support system (be it friends, teachers or family) to survive. The support I received from the Maths Centre and CBE project was beyond amazing. I was able to achieve what I have from their support.
2016 has been a year that has exposed me to a different life, a life that I have never experienced before, a life of pure hard work and determination. The truth of the matter is that no matter how hard I tried, I have always had a gap for extra assistance and that is where the Maths Centre CBE project came in. The project has given me a wider concept of my academic life. It has changed the way I think in every aspect of my school work. The programme has enriched me with great intelligence above the usual and has instilled me with the spirit of hard work. The extra lessons we had played a huge role in regards to us writing and passing our final finals. We were given necessary tool s (previous exam papers) to prepare for our final exams. Physical sciences and Math are not jokes, they are serious factors that play a role in determining whether we pass or not. The extra lessons have helped me get over the fear of them that we are always being fed out there, by helping us understand the subjects better leading to us enjoying the subjects. I know have confidence and self-esteem has improved.
The project’s extra hand is effective and I see that daily. With the aid of our school teachers, our CBE teacher, knowledge and wisdom from above we are sure to reach the place called ‘success’.
I passed my matric exceptionally well getting a total of 7 distinctions (90 in Physical Science and 78 in Maths). I am currently studying MBCHB at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. Thank you so much to the Maths Centre, CBE and my former high school teachers.
